Sikkim

The natural beauty of tiny Sikkim attracts tourists in large numbers. The snow clad Himalayan mountain ranges and virgin forests gives the landscape a mesmerizing look. Cut off from the din and bustle of the modern world, Sikkim is the perfect destination for tourists to rest and recreate in the midst of Himalayas. One of India's smallest states, Sikkim is strategically located above eastern Indian state of West Bengal. The state shares its boundary with three countries-Nepal in the west, Bhutan in the east and China in the north. The state has an interesting history. Established in 1642, Phuntsog Namgyal was the first ruler of Sikkim who was recognized by Dalai Lama as the first chogyal (temporal and spiritual king).
